Rendering large areas of opacity can be stressful on GPUs. However yes, it does seem like Stefan is moving past the limitations of the older hardware as they are indeed very limiting.
However, if this is not something that effects gameplay(I'm not talking about TIME. I'm talking about effecting the players actual VISION) then I question if it should be able to be enabled or disabled by users. Could users brighten their screens to the point that they can counteract the negative effects of night(might it easier to see)? If so, then why not just let them disable it anyways?

well i dont know, you think it would be easy? i dont know how to script, i dont want to be too damanding. but yea there could be a option, just might ruin the ingame affect, or make all npcs have trouble seeing and demensia.
