Unpopular opinion, but FDR. He's what started the shift away from the people seeing government as a necessary evil, but rather the means to solving every problem in existence, and a source of dependency.

To be honest, I don't believe that we have a migrant crisis at all. We have more problems with ring-wing- and left-wing extremists than with refugees. And I'm saying that even though my city apparently suffered an terroristic attack yesterday (even though accused guy was from pakistan).
