They're not removing it to make it thinner. They're taking it away because it was one of the last loopholes in their closed system, which is great for them and terrible for the consumer.

Will the screen shatter when it belly-flops into toilet water?

My iphone 6 works perfectly fine, and i'm almost guaranteed to lose one of the wireless headsets. The iphone speaker improvement is useless to me as I will use actual speakers if I want to listen to music outloud.
Bluetooth headphones aren't as good sound quality as wired so until they add a jack to their iphone 9 or whatever version it is when I need a new phone I won't be upgrading.

Don't really see why anybody would want to upgrade unless their job required overseas calls or that was something you did regularly. The camera on iphone 6 is still good, if you want to be a photographer then you'd use a real camera. Waterproof is only useful to people that somehow frequently drop their phone in water, faster performance I can't see the need for unless all you do with your phone is play games. Better brightness- not many people use full brightness anyway so kind of irrelevant to me and the stereo system- Again I don't really know when people use their phone volume above halfway unless you are showing someone a video

I think removing wired headphones was a great move.

Honestly, wired headphones of any sort are annoying and the wire just gets in the way most of the time, wireless headphones allow more flexibility and more comfortable listening as well as allowing you to listen further from your device.

Also, the sound quality is supposedly much better.

So removing the choice to have either was a good idea?

Wireless headphones are great and have their place but are by no means superior. Battery and sound quality are always going to be big problems with them.

I've got a Galaxy S4 right now and I'm probably keeping it for another year at least. I don't see myself buying an iPhone because they're overpriced imo and I feel like they go obsolete quicker than androids. My iPad 4 is starting to get problems and has been trying to make me download their newer iOS version for months now, popping up messages every day. I know I'll only get more problems if I download it, though. The new iPhone looks cool, but phones and accessories are already expensive as hell, and now they're going to have expensive bluetooth earphones that are so small and will be easy to lose. If I lose earphones now, I can buy another pair for cheap.

The main reason why I am upgrading is because my iPhone 6 is only 16 Gb which I cant even download ios 10 since it is poop.
When I went to buy an iphone 6 i wanted the 64gb iphone sadly they didnt have any and they were going to be ordered and come a month later. which i coudlnt wait and needed the phone at the time.

I am getting the iphone 6 32gb. Too me 128 is a crap load of storage and i dont need it.

Now will i be getting the Airpods? Maybe I dont like 100% sold on them I do like the fact they are small but what if you are running and fall you will most likely drop one and lose it.
I wish they added a little bend to it so that doesnt happen.
I personal hate big headphones. which is why I never bought beats or any other crap like that.

My apple watch can use bluetooth headphones so I wont need to have my iphone playing music just my watch saving a bit more battery on my phone.

And for the people calling others stupid or dumb for buying something they enjoy please stop. We earn our money and we can spend it as we please.

^

its kinda sad to see the company that started the smart phone revolution make such terrible decisions.
removing the headphone jack was about selling adapters, overpriced Bluetooth headphones.
no thanks :P

that being said my perferences for a phone are not really the norm, i want a phone where i can make modifications at will, and mess around with third party development and not be bothered by drm etc.

You know whats more annoying?

Having to carry around this stupid little electric lighter that charges your tiny little earpieces every 5 hours.

That's ****ing stupid.

i dont mind wireless, but forcing it atm is stupid. battery life on the buds is ****, sound quality will be the same (slightly worse technically speaking), and there are still a lot of people who use the jack to connect it to their cars (since a lot of pre-smart phone era cars only have a headphone jack and not bluetooth). the buds apple is offering are ****ing mad expensive too.

what to do:
- was going to get note 7 but it explodes
- was thinking maybe switch to iphone but not having a headphone jack really is a nope for me no matter what.

Guess I will just go with exploding phone and yolo it

Ryan 09-10-2016 01:51 AM

I love that their going back to having black phones again, they were my favorite colors. The whole headphone jack thing is just ****ing stupid. It's as if their trying to get everyone to switch to what their doing.

No wonder Apple is losing profit, they have stopped being innovators and now their behind everyone

You do know it comes with a lightning cable that you plug in and it has the headphone jack on the other side... I am sure some cheap company will sell the divider so you can charge and listing to music

But to remove the headphone jack is just stupid in a way.

There is no reason to remove it unless they went with the Usb-C like their laptops. It isn't courage. It is being assholes to make more profit.

I think the 'how will I charge and listen at the same time while I drive' problem is easily solved and is on most new cars already.

Any ****ty old car with an AUX port and a 12V can be 'upgraded' to Bluetooth with a $20-40 hands free kit.

e.g. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GJFGE0K

From what I've seen any newer car that has a USB port not only charges but is able to play music through the stereo as well.

Wireless sound quality will improve, perhaps someone will even develop a nice cheap pocket Bluetooth DAC so you no longer have to physically tether your phone to your headphones to begin with.
