If you're trying to call a person autistic without making everyone around you secretly hate you, don't call the person autistic but a person with autism.

kinda like saying someone is suffering from mental ******ation. avoid the social stigma of calling someone ******ed but get the same message across. win win amirite

But if you were autistic, suddenly it would be a big deal.

Sigh, so much ignorance in these forums. @MrSimmons why is it fair to call someone "autistic" as if it's a bad way? Call them something else. I didn't really make this thread to suddenly change the world, because I am aware that people wouldn't really care, but there's a ton of people who use these words and don't even understand the context of it.

Your problem is you think that anyone who goes around calling people autistic cares what is fair. I personally have never used autism as an insult because I have better things to call someone, but if I was going to tell someone how autistic they sounded I really would not give a **** who it offends.

If we start being little pansies like this, where's the endpoint

"You're a little girl if you get offended by this stuff." WAAAIT, that's offensive to girls.

Nothing is just a joke to say so is ignorant of anothers perception. And there are a lot of other people out there. You can't always be safe no matter what you do. Usually calling people names doesn't help, telling someone they are autistic because hey sound stupid or whatever the *** is not explanatory of what the other person is doing that bothers you. It's not a fulfilling dialogue, and to me a fulfilling dialogue is a win for everyone involved. Calling someone names is hilarious, but pretty unproductive.
Calling people names usually says more about the person saying it. It shows the scales you judges things by including yourself. Name calling is a diagnoses it's the conclusion to your judgement. It can be satire or harassment. It takes a pro to pull it off with grace, it takes a scrub to call someone autistic over bad grammar.

Why is everyone suddenly so sensitive to these things? Next thing you know, we're suddenly ostracized for saying "lame" because it's derogatory to use the term as an insult to those with crippling leg injuries.

Thereis more history to the word Lame than name calling people with disabilities.

It is an affront to my liberty as a human being if I cannot be disparaging to those on the spectrum.

Once again, all I did was put the definition. What are you defending?
