P.S I'm aware that GS2 needs a server because it talks to the NPC-Server etc. I'm sure that an editor could be created that could have a modified NPC-Server emulated inside it.

Pretty sure FP made a little emulator for simple GS2. Might only be for the stuff in his tutorial though.

Staff who went on strike about the hardware issues would be fired and replaced swiftly I would think.

Then let them replace. It won't end very well for them. A large scale strike would accomplish the goal of essential upgrades which I'm sure toonslab can afford. This would work if people really did care about the server over their own reputation.

I was added on Testbedbut I have no idea how to start off learning GS2, no one ever teaches me how.

Same.

G Fatal 02-17-2015 04:53 PM

exactly same as all servers (keen on repetitiveness instead of progression on stuff)

Same.

Fp4's guide is a very simple and easy one to look at.

Take a look here.

Then, start practicing on testbed or another server on the dev. After reading his guide then you'll get an easier view of GS2.

those that do know how to script don't help or share that knowledge with others in a widespread basis

I do share what I know and always have. I'm only a PM away after all, and I keep my eye on the General Graal Development forum for newer scripters that need some help :(

Traitor!

Nevertheless, the next big release is obviously new town - which will absolutely be worth the wait. Less original content is being worked on so they can open space on previous projects, which is a good step IMO.

But who am I to judge? :)

Replaced with who? Lol, anyone who posses talents to work for a server, either do or don't want to. That's why PR team is overflowing and dev team is lacking on really any server.

Graal thrives off of conning people to work for free. If there is no one who knows how to do the jobs required, Graal goes away simply because they don't hire professionals and rely heavily on volunteers.

The flaw with this approach is that you are limited only to the people that actively take in content from Graal, and out of those, the ones who are willing to learn what it takes to dev. Which if anyone has been paying attention, is dwindling lower and lower as the time goes by. People would much rather take the easier approach by calling themselves a "PR".

Fun fact, Graal needs scripters, however those that do know how to script don't help or share that knowledge with others in a widespread basis (this could be because it is harder to teach scripting, idk I don't script, just speaking on what I've noticed over the years). Compare that to something like GFX or LAT, anyone can pick that up because that community is larger and people get help and feedback quickly alas helping them improve.

If you need more scripters, train some :)

Well said, but there's a simple answer. The vast majority of scripters are smart enough to realise they can take there talent elsewhere, and get paid for it.

In here I go into more detail (as well as most of my occasional posts recently) about the, imo, unethical actions implemented by Eurocenter since Graal's inception.

The developers that stay, and hang around, are still around for one of two things:
1. The social scene/reminiscing on the ol' days (ie. most people <2012 lol).
2. Too lazy, unaware or lack of interest in pursuing better and bigger things in the field of programming and software engineering.

And these 2 reasons keep Graal up and running and the content flowing.

Well to me, Graal was a cheap way of seeing your code come to life and be played by hundreds of people and reaping the satisfaction from that without having to invest in all the infrastructure myself, hence making it an excellent part time hobby while one studies...

Yeah, the word 'lazy' has more drastic connotations than a word like 'convenience' which would be a better way to put it.

Hugop 02-26-2015 12:25 PM

I can python, java and lua but still not GS2, more variables and functions would be useful for GS2/3 but since Stefan is gone, no one cares about that.
