Is this a surprise? Nintendo tried the whole "just give them power!" with the Gamecube and they got ****ed. Now they're too scared to go that route anymore and need to try to think outside the box to win people over. If more developers and players supported the Gamecube, Nintendo may have never gone down this road(or may have, Miyamoto is just that kind of person).

No, I'm saying that it won't matter in the long run because good games will be made anyways and the big features aren't important, but that won't detract from gameplay.

Good first party games can only take a console so far, they need third party developers to become interested in their console. Third party developers completely ditched the Gamecube, even though it was a perfectly viable console, and way ahead of the PS2. That was a huge loss to Nintendo. Now they come and add motion controls to the Wii and third party devs loved it, and most consumers loved it. They have their stats, and from a financial standpoint it would be stupid to try to go back to just giving people "more power."

thirdy party devs loved it compared to the Gamecube, Nintendo's overall third party support and success is still pretty weak

Maybe. But while people trash Wii for their shovelware, other consoles weren't immune to the same thing. PS2 had tons of shovelware crap too, and even the NES and SNES had it. Shovelware flocks to the best selling console, it's that simple. The difference is the Wii sold insanely well, and developers would rather cash in on that fact than put out a good game. Why make a good game when so many parents bought the Wii for their little kids that wouldn't appreciate them? In the end though, the Wii was doing much better in the third party support than the Gamecube did, though the games themselves suck.

It's already happening with the Kinect..huge success, third party games suck for now.

For those who intend to buy the Wii U, you're not gonna be happy with this...

It's just a rumor, but if it is true(no reliable sources so who's to say?) then they might not do too swell. The only reason the Wii was as popular as it was was because of the pricing.

If that's true, Nintendo needs to get off whatever they're smoking. Their systems are no where near advanced or as good as the PS3 and Xbox 360. No one is going to pay that much for that little system. At most I say they could charge $300.00, but not a penny more.

What? You do know it's more advanced than the 360 AND PS3, right? Or are you just talking out of your ass?

I can't imagine Nintendo pricing their system that expensive. It is just a rumor, and also the price in europe.

Whenever Nintendo prices their systems, its never the same in other regions.

From what I've seen it doesn't look at all advanced compared to them. Xbox and PS3 knocked Wii out of the competition when they released the Kinect and Motion Controller. What can this do that the other systems can't? Does it even have online gameplay or an account you can make?

Have you read up on it at all? Also, Kinect did alright, but it hardly offers anything spectacular. PS3 Move is lol.

I've watched clips of usage with it. I'm not interested in it too much so I didn't read much on it. Nintendo hasn't impressed me in the past with their systems. They're making a lot of different versions of the DS which is unneccessary. The Wii is ok. This just doesn't look eye catching to me.
