the problem is that you'll constantly need to create useful energy, which is the opposite of how nature works (breaking down from orderly and useful energy to chaotic and worthless energy). you can generate power etc with solar panels, sure, but will it account for everything?

matter will need to leave the system anyway, not everything is reusable. =[

the london point was a tiny example of a bigger and more important point, which is that we need to advance ourselves as a society first before we try to tackle a space city.

Pretty sure Obama cancelled our NASA program.

You do realize he supports NASA right?

no... in fact theres rumors that now that he is relected he may announce more space missions, before he couldnt because if Romney was elected most likely funding for NASA would be cut.

What's wrong with the idea? I like it.

No, he didn't.

NASA is wayyyy too much wasted money and shouldnt be funded by the government in this economy. If youre so interested in outsr space, A.) start taking up donations, B.) leave it to a country whose government can afford this type of thing.

Compared to other countries USA can.

Anyway, it's science, not a waste of money.

But this isn't a political thread. Back on topic of the space station city and science.

just was able to use this as a creative writing essay for the DuPont challenge as an assignment for my Environmental science class, so yea, screw you naysayers.

How do you deal with overpopulation in the space city?

also looked at the dupoint challenge, higbey you must be between grades 7-12

There would be a population limit, only those with good genes would be able to reproduce , and it would be monitored to be sustainable.

I note a problem with monitoring. Some peeps don't like being watched, and that person who is doing the monitoring will play peeping Tom until they end up being Big Brother from the book (and film) 1984.

I don't think 100% renewability is possible.
Maybe 99.9% but complete renewability...I don't know.

Go die you moron, the money NASA gets is relatively nothing.

How do you define "good genes"?

I sense an intergalactic genocide approaching...

NASA is responsible for many modern day innovations and hold thousands of patents. Yet ignorant people like you just think it's a bunch of wasted money to send people to space.
Lowering funding would not even make the tiniest dent in our national debt.
