So if they can relate to the first thing they see on you, then you will be remembered. I don't know, it's just a theory.
It is very true; certainly no name is any good without having an inner effort or presence. However, certain names can certainly open & close doors.

I'll also add that the etymology of a name has a superconscious & subconscious effect. Language is very much learned, and the etymologies of words are subconsciously understood while our conscious mind doesn't always pick up on it; so, if your name can be etymologically broken down into latin & greek roots that comprise your native tongue, those you encounter will in effect have a certain vibe about you whether or not they are cognizant or believing it.

Having a cool nickname just makes people more likely to remember you, but being remembered doesn't necessarily mean you are popular.

Most of the times it's just the fact that anyone capable of doing something that would deem them popular just has enough common sense to use a decent name.

I forgot to include the irony of the situation. I'm pretty sure the Morpheus girl's name was really long, contradictory of her teachings, but I can't seem to remember what it was. I'm bad with names.

Then again, if Morpheus was well known, normal people would actually know who he is. (In the movie, not in real life (only if you do know who he is in real life (if you don't know who he is you need to watch the Matrix)))

It's more hot names = popularity. Think about it, do you know of any "IceSickle"s? No, but we all know Coco, who makes you think of Hot Cocoa.

When I was trying to think of a new username for RS I somehow managed to get "Miden" I had never heard the word before and to my knowledge it is not a commonly used word for anything, just recently found out it's an old verb for 'to avoid' which kind of describes me in most scenarios since I tend to avoid everyone and keep to myself.

Always thought that it was a weird coincidence, either that or I better start wearing my tinfoil hat!!

Yea that was nasty and unnecessary. What a bunch of victims we have on these forums … You poor things, taking any opportunity to psychopathically try to annihilate another person's happiness. This place is supposed to have a spirit of encouragement & socializing; not, "I'm going to make you feel worthless and then cry wolf if say something back or call you a ***** for it." There is something seriously wrong with this place if anyone thinks that these kinds of comments aren't damaging; ever single thread I have read is 90% unwarranted people saying short cold nasty hateful things to each other, playing popularity contests, freaking out when someone says something back, and pretending this psychopathy is socializing.

Mine used to be TWIZ* for a year or two. I was told it declared you as the original, so I thought it would be cool to be the original TWIZ. I soon realized how pointless it was.

Honestly don't think the name has much to do with how much you're "popular".

People are born with names, not fame.

What you do decides who you are and what the world will think of you.

If it were as simple as being a matter of what your name is, don't think there'd be many stand-out folk among us.

It has to do with how you're remembered, though. Names like 5hift are much easier to recognise, quote, and refer to, whereas others such as XxxxK1LL4Z24!%3567xxXxxZZZ aren't. Like passwords. People are much more likely to use Passw0rd rather than suggested passwords like 2NQUILYR!8034XO.

Besides, the former is more unique and doesn't contain five hundred numbers, making it seem more important/original and therefore is more memorable.

I personally created my username when I started graal, I wanted something unique so eventually found that nobody had the nickname iBubble and used it myself.

Popularity is more bound to what you achieve though. People mostly know me for graphics and that's what I sometimes get pms about, some people simply just remember me from hanging around (surprises me tbh).

Both of my main passwords are actually just random combinations of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers :|
