Then I don't think you're recognizing just how much of a difference there is in the textures and polygon count.

Gaming systems aren't about graphics to me.

Then you should absolutely love the WiiU, because that's what Nintendo is excellent about. Making incredible games with creative and innovative game play that no gaming company can parallel.

Then what the hell do you mean by the PS3 and 360 being more "advanced?" In this stage all we can look at is specs, so you're drawing out some pretty ill-informed conclusions about the console on things you apparently don't care about?

Lol you seem pretty passionnent about this. By advanced I mean the features and add-ons it has. Xbox 360 can play DVD's, Kinect motion, ability to store music, videos, photos, etc., able to chat with your friends over a mic, and other features. The one major thing the Wii lacks is good Wi-Fi. Some of the games you can play online, but it's not nearly as cool as Xbox 360 or PS3. You get your own profile on there, achievments, ability to invite any friend to a game, more multiplayer option choices, etc.

So just slap an online log in page on a console to make it better?

All this crap I can do with my phone and blu ray player. It's about games, not all this other crap.

Dusty 12-09-2011 11:23 PM

Nintendo does need to improve quite a few things. Their online has always been abysmal, and I don't like the fact that saves are per system. For example, Twilight Princess only had two save slots... what happens if I had a family of more than two people interested in playing? Oh well! On the gamecube with memory cards every member could have their own memory card, but with the Wii you're kind of crap out of luck. I mean, you can swap with SD cards but that's troublesome.

But all in all, if I hope for anything it's that they don't **** up online play this time(and please, god, DON'T IMPLEMENT BUTTON LAG!).

Without good multiplayer the games wouldn't last as long now would they? Also, people like other features on a console. Everyone was constantly saying the PS3 was better than the Xbox because it has a Blue Ray player and free online. I honestly don't care about the Blu Ray player because I buy normal DVD's.

Along the same line, too much do games rely solely on multiplayer to add any sort of replay to the game, often thinking they can neglect the single-player stuff. I hope Nintendo doesn't do that.

Jazz 12-10-2011 04:49 AM

The WiiU will most likely have all these features...online, music playback, dvd, video, w/e.

The 3DS has music, video, online, etc. So, you can only assume the WiiU will as well.
Not to mention, Nintendo has emphasized online multiplayer with the WiiU, saying they've worked very closely with developers to make a good online experience.

So, It all sounds wonderful, and I can only hope it is. :P

These aren't soundtracks btw.
For the ps3, its only one disc

Of course they will have online, it's whether or not they will support it in a decent manner. At the very least, I hope they match PSN, if they pull a miracle, they take a hint from Xbox live and try to do what they've done.

Dude I lived through the PS1, this **** doesn't bother me. Also, bluray still loads slower than DVD even after installing the game to the hard drive.

Thats because the ps3 uses blueray.

Blueray discs are bigger...so...your saying ps3 is better because they use a bigger disc medium?

Well, the WiiU will use a disc thats larger than blueray, so, the WiiU is the better system, obviously. Right?

Don't ask me. lol

The last I heard, they were opting for something besides blueray, and I think they decided on duel layered dvd? Not sure, but it can hold a ton of content.

Dual-layered DVD's already exist and have been used, they don't offer anywhere near the size of a Bluray. Even if they use something other than bluray, loading times will still be an issue because of the current state of disc-reading technology.

Like I said, idunno. :P

I just know they didn't want to use bluray, but have something of greater size.
Perhaps wizardry of some sort. Nintendo can afford that, I think.

Rexx 12-10-2011 05:35 PM

Nintendo strips every console they make to the bare bones in order to make it the cheapest price as possible.
I mean its almost 2012 and I still haven't been able to watch a DVD on a machine with a Nintendo logo on it.

They didn't strip anything down on the DVD. It can play DVD's, they simply made it so the software doesn't allow it. If you put homebrew stuff on your Wii it will play DVD's fine. Why did they not give us an option? *shrug* But I'm guessing they were scared of the lasers burning out like the PS2 had problems with.

WiiU, taking the money from Mii!

Yephenpeace 12-16-2011 10:49 PM

I don't think the controller is just going to be a second display. They'll probably utilize it like the bottom screen of a Nintendo DS.

its used as the main display if your wii is disconected from your tv or the input is changed..not sure exactly how it works but thats what it does in the ad.

°Seeker99 12-17-2011 01:09 AM

Yeah you can see scumbag dad turning off the TV and the kid playing his game on that in one of the commericals. Without a doubt it will be laggy and run out of batteries very easily.

Actually, thats not true. :o

Nintendo has said that developers can use the second screen however they like.
They can use it as a main display.

In the New Super Mario Bros. Mii example, it can be used to play the entire game on the display, without the use of a tv.

But in other demos, it was used as a shield, a looking glass, an inventory, map, etc.

So...if the developers want the ability to throw the screen onto the controller, they can do that. But thats not its main use. :P

eh I never said it couldn't do those things.
but if some games cant be fully played on the controller alone that makes the WiiU even less desirable imo

oh and also that might as well be false advertising too on Nintendo's part

More curious about;
Do you really need the Wii to get it work?

The Wii U is a console itself.
