Because I actually play Minecraft. Wondering why Santa said he donated seeing as he doesn't play on our server.

I played on the server when it came out and got bored of mincraft so i stopped playing it.

Not releasing it until tomorrow evening so as not to conflict with school :P

You could buy a cheaper version whose gives you 3 months for 20+ spots I suppose, with a free domain and MySQL, it's a bad idea as of 30$ per month.

He's moving to a VPS so it won't matter how many "slots" someone else can offer him. With this new host, he can host multiple things, not just a minecraft server.

Which is a worse idea :
1. If he puts in a random number of slots, he'd get an CPU overuse.
2. Turning on dual servers would make it use twice more CPU and RAM
3. Players are paying for the server, let's consider he has it set as VPS for 2+ servers or data storages, once in a while players would stop paying, which will lead to the loss of all data in both(+) servers.
The host I use simply gives an easier UI on me, with FTP access, and is responsible with everything that happens with my server. Last time they got for maintenance for 2-3 hours for adding the 1.5 jar file to the selection popup, they gave me an extra 2 days server uptime :)

Are you even reading what I'm talking about? I'm saying he's renting a multi-purpose server that is factored around basic computer statistics, not this "slots" system.

He can still limit the slots, and using a VPS would even grant him a larger control over the server.

It's not like he's going to run a 256mb server with 200slots.....

My eventual plan is to host the Graalians Minecraft server locally (possibly on its own machine) once I move and receive faster internet. That will not be until early November, however, so I would like to raise a little bit of cash so we can have a decent sized dedicated server until then.

The plan that I wish to purchase allots us about 24 slots for $15 per month. Our goal is therefore to raise $30 total to cover the next two months before I am able to move and experiment with hosting the server myself.
