your shading is just waves of color

Dithering isn't the only method to add texture and such..

I couldn't follow that if I tried. I've never been good with shading, and never will. I don't really have the patience to shade pixel by pixel by pixel.

It's a nice guide though, and it should help a lot of people who give it enough time.

Alien cap looks nice :)

The sword looks like its made of jello or some floppy substance, you need to define its shape more and make in look like you could kill someone with it. Also the hadles shading looks kinda nasty and needs to be touched up.
