I'm running mini games out of my house this month, by the way. Winners will get a gift with no expectation to return one. Last year gave more than 15k worth of gifts out this way.

because doing so implies that the entire event should revolve around the whole "gift-for-gift" exchange that the players themselves created, and that doesn't seem to be what the admins want the event to be about

You cant expect people to just give gifts to their friends and their friends might or might not gift them back and be not greedy at all wanting more

well, I think admins just want the event to be similar to how Christmas gifting actually is
if you care about someone, you send them a gift - if they care about you, they'll do the same

the part where people try to set up fair exchanges with strangers is out of their control and I'm sure they really don't care if anyone gets scammed in the process of doing it

I'm only gonna trade with friends in my guild, I'm probably just gonna end up buying gifts and gifting all my friends and maybe hope for something in return. I might do the occasional "gift4gift" but I don't plan to try to get 200 gifts or something. (I got 200 last year with gift4gift)

My christmas last year was bad and 2013 was the first christmas i was active

Let me explain something David M. Admins have no reason to want players to buy gralat packs as they receive 0 monetary compensation from the servers revenue. Xor(the manager) is probably the only admin that would want players to buy gralat packs since he's the only one that gets a "piece of the bread(Mr. Psymons, sir, you're in no position to tell players that the bread jokes are "unfunny" and "over used", so please keep your negativity to yourself)" from the servers revenue.
