Go for desktop. Laptops are freaking expensive.
You probably don't need a new computer. Just a new video card.

For $500, it is almost impossible to purchase a laptop that can't run a game like minecraft at 60fps or higher. Just wait for a good sale at bestbuy, better yet wait until a time of the year where sales are more noticeable (back to school, christmas, boxing day).

I'm currently on a desktop I bought around 3 years ago for 399$, and it runs almost every single game I would want it to run fine. Even came with onboard GFX.

MineCraft,TF2,Gary's Mod,DayZ,Left 4 Dead,Black Light Retribution.

Any GPU around the $100-$120 range should work fine for those games, and the remaining $400 could probably complete the rig efficiently.

I know you can hardly see it but this desktop is ancient.

Build a new one. :)

buy an asus they are really cheap at sams club but you have to be a member of sams club to get in the store

Anyways, budget laptops aren't going to cut it if you're trying to get the best experience on a laptop. If its not $800+ then you're not spending enough.
