@Rexx you definitely can't go wrong with Sony XB500's for great bass under $100.

Always look at the frequency range. Some "good" head phones share the same range as the bad ones.

Seconded @Von, any set in Sony's XB series will do you justice.

Honestly, frequency range is trivial in determining the overall quality of a set.

Are these any better/worse?: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-XB600.../ref=pd_cp_e_3

I like the aesthetics better and its the same price.

Talon 04-21-2013 06:10 AM

Yup, those work too.

Von 04-21-2013 07:01 AM

Basically any pair in Sony's XB series are great if you want bass.

Sure. If you're ok with not hearing some tones.

Rexx 04-21-2013 04:51 PM

Yup we tricked you, they're the worst for bass.

Dude, they even say "Extra Bass" on the Amazon thing. Plus I think XB is Xtra Bass.

Rexx 04-21-2013 05:28 PM

There are, quite literally, no respectable headphones with a frequency range that doesn't exceed the average human's hearing range, let alone the frequency response found in music. The headphone's statistical frequency response is trivial in how the headphone sounds - the graph of the frequency response, or the the sound signature, is what determines the overall sound traits/qualities of a headphone.

hosler 04-21-2013 08:31 PM

OK i should have said something like this: you might not be able to hear 20hz, but you sure can feel it.

T-10a 04-22-2013 03:29 AM

Or see it if that's your monitor refresh rate.

Pazx 04-28-2013 02:50 PM

yo yo

are dedicated mp3 players like the zens or the sandisk sansa or some sony rubbish or god forbid an ipod gonna have significantly different sound quality with good headphones?
