The reason I mention "first player" is because back then there was no NPC server to communicate data between players. It was all peer-to-peer. So whoever entered a level first was designated the "host" of that level. They acted in place of an NPC-server, communicating all the data(outside of player data, that was communicated between each player directly) of the level, such as NPC movement, arrows and such. Therefor, "lag" depended entirely on how well the connection/PC of whoever entered the level first. In this case, whoever entered that level first probably had their PC crying by the time it was over.
