Barely anyone spars anymore and its extremely rare to see more than 15 sparers in a room. This was obviously caused by the castle update.
It made a massive impact on sparring. The castle update was defiantly a great one however, the sparers went to do bounties and the castle quests. is sparring will stay like this? I really hope that sparring isn't ending up like towering.
I'm pretty sure sparers are happy of the new update because they are not forcing themselves to spar anymore. Only reason why sparring wasn't inactive because (my own opinion) there was nothing else to do in this game. Of course sparring changed a lot in the past few month and the reasons were: (my own opinion) an increase of speed hackers in the game, an increase of health sparers in the game, an increase of players that use vpn to cause extra delay and an increase of lagers.

I hope something new happens in the next few month that will change this inactivity in sparring to more of an active thing. Or at least they should decrease the rooms in the battle arena if admins are not planning to make any update in the future.

Um, this is common when there is such a big update like this. Not many people will be sparring or pking rather checking out the Castle. Once everyone becomes accustomed to the new Castle sparring will be active again.

Spar is kind of in a lull between GST anyways. The update just furthered it. As GST draws near it will pick up, and it's sure to pick up with the new guild system whenever that happens as well.

Had to be there back in 2009 when towering and sparring were constantly full. Good old days.

so you're saying that 2 days after the first major content update in 1.5 years, people are still missing from BA and checking it out

well this is the only explanation since BA wasn't as inactive as before. Although, gst is coming up next month people are still not gsing as active as they suppose to be yet, because it's a bit early. In-fact a lot of people are still struggling on the quests and the number that is doing bounties right now isn't the same number of people that used to do pyrat daily quest.
Of course the castle update is amazing but I mean people barely spars now.
as flugore said hopefully the 'guild system update' will make the situation better.

um.. its because there is a NEW update so ppl went to check it, well give them a week or so and they'll probably spend their life again in BA

But seriously though, if all goes well, the NGS should revive towers and spar.

I think people stopped sparring due to the amount of people vpning on alt accounts, and some speeding even on mains

Ahh the old spar pt system where you gained points for winning and lost pts for losing was better. Sparring these dayz only shows who spars the most... Exampl: Carly averages 6 pts per win, beating 0.6 ratio sparer on average... She obv sucks at spar. More skilful sparer should be at the top of leaderboard... everybody know this
