The Wire is regarded as one of the best dramas of all time by many critics. I finished watching The Wire about a month or two ago and have been meaning to write a thread on here about it. If you are looking for something to watch to fill the void that Breaking Bad has left, then I recommend you try The Wire.
It is an depth look into the everyday street life of Baltimore. The show covers everything from the ongoing drug trade, the failures and problems of the school system, the illegal operations of the seaport, and even the corruption and transgressions of the city government and law enforcement. The Wire showcases some of the best acting and writing that I've seen on television. The show may be hard to follow at times but its quality stays consistently high throughout each season, something that is rare now-a-days on TV. The Wire does not help walk the audience through the plot every episode and expects the viewers to be able to think about each episode which is why some may find it difficult to understand (especially due to the dialogue used on the streets). However, it isn't hard to follow because of the puzzling plots or twists (much like the critically acclaimed series, LOST) but because it is profound and thought provoking at times. It is also probably the most realistic cop show (If you would call it that) ever made.
Once again, I highly recommend this show is you are a fan of Breaking Bad or The Sopranos and feel free to discuss the show if you've seen it before.
