Gaming Laptop Help

So I want to buy a gaming laptop, I found one which I looked at quite awhile ago which got me pretty interested. I'm not good with computer specs so I wanted an opinion on whether this will work well and is worth the money.
I know it is cheaper to build your own but that isn't something I want to get into, I just want to know if the specs are good, it's worth the price ($2700 AU), whether there is anything the same or better for cheaper or the same price and if I will be able to run games without difficulty. (I'm interested in starcitizens which it coming out sometime in the future and apparently it is a very demanding game, if this computer can run that then it'll probably run anything).
(Also I don't want a desktop)

I'm not really savvy enough to know about specs and such but when I made a similar thread a few months ago I was directed to look at the Lenovo's. I paid £900 for a Lenovo Y50 and it's been amazing so far, im able to play D3 and Skyrim on maximum res. Have a look into it, it's a lot cheaper and might be good enough for ya needs.

Thanks, had a look at it and I must admit it does looks very similar to what i've been looking at just 2 inches smaller and a few different graphical option but as you said cheaper. Cheapest I could find it was 1500 AU, so i'd be saving 1/3, only thing is one of the things i'm looking for is a larger screen since why not.
Seeing as though the two are so similar besides that price gap I guess i'll probably need to keep looking since 2700 is probably too much. I'm just not sure on prices since I haven't owned a gaming laptop before

I wouldn't recommend it. You could find something a lot cheaper for your needs. I mean, what are you going to do with three SSDs?

I recommend building your own, the parts are much cheaper and you save TONS of money. I spent 2700 dollars on parts (thanks parents) and I havn't found anything I can't run with everything maxed yet, with tons of fps.

The point is- you can spend very little money and get a great cpu that can run everything. You don't have to spend nearly as much as I did and you'll still be fine. The most important is memory, graphics card, processor. (However that doesn't mean you can skimp on the rest neccecarily.

Edit: Mine is a desktop so the prices/function may vary. I havn't gone into detail of ever purchasing a gaming laptop.

Do you even know what a SSD is? I rather have 3 SSDs than a 1 terabyte HD. Its just great ,efficent , fast and has a longer life span. Normal hardrives is like a record player that has a arm with pins on it that reads a spinning disk. Over time these spinning disks get nicks that become bad sectors that eventually lead to a failing HD. Even though 3 SSDs may be over kill its a wise choice.

This gaming machine is great it has a Haswell 4th gen i7 proccessor which means its much like the newest AMD proccessors with graphic support. The only thing thats dissapointed is the Graphics Card. By the looks of it, its a laptop graphics card with dedicated ram. The better laptops or lets say the better alienwares or asus machine comes with desktop graphics card. The differences between these is the laptop gfx card only runs when the laptop is charging apose to the desktop card that runs 24/7 charging or not. There is always a dowside ro this as well. Although haswell chips have the best battery life, with a desktop card your only going to get 3/4 hours batterylife .. Instead of 6-7.

It really depends what he is looking for, building your own machine isnt always greatest although you get more for your bucks.

When it comes down to building your own machine a few factors come in mind. Do you travel alot? Is mobility important? Those 2 main questions help you decide that.

3 ssds provide you with faster write times assuming they're in RAID, so you can download games even faster assuming you have google fiber lol.

Yes they actually have desktop Graphic cards, so that you have your graphic support without being plugged in. (Superior Graphic Support on the go)

Had mine for two years. The only problem it has is Windows8, lol.
Truth is, you probably could find good ones much cheaper, but they may not last nearly as long (Alienwares are quite durable. I can literally stand on mine without anything happening to it)

I understand the difference between SSD and HHD. I also understand the price difference, which is the problem I have with them. Unless you're rich I wouldn't recommend three SSDs.

I'd just get one for the OS.

I have yet to find a server that can reach near my 50mbps. I get roughly 15 wired directly to the modem. So I don't think that's something to look forward to.

Thanks, yea one of my friends told me to have a look at it, and I've been interested by the Alienware 18 for $2099. Again not sure about specs so I don't know whether it is better than the one I originally looked at but from its reviews and the fact that is a gaming laptop makes me assume it will be good?
As far as I know about specs all I really know is to get something with a big screen, 16gb of ram, intel i7 processor. I don't know what graphics cards are better since some are less gb but a worth more so I don't know whether it's quantity or quality. Based on what I'm assuming, the two big graphic cards are ASUS and Invidia, and I think ASUS is better performance wise but invidia is better in quality, correct me if i'm wrong

Thanks but like I said i'm really not interested in building my own, even though I know it's cheaper. Also I want a laptop since though I will primarily use it at home I would like to be able to take it to Uni if I need it for my course, I also don't really have anywhere to set up another desktop since I currently have a mac

Asus doesn't make graphic cards or at least not to my knowledge. Most gaming Asus Machines with a dedicated graphic cards have nvidia chips in them.

Eh, they do have custom PCB's for both Nvidia and AMD cards.
