What Zigzag brings up is important too, when someone in your family is mentally ill, everything you say that is rational and motivational will not immediately take effect because in they cannot think rationally. But if you keep reaching out, keep grinding, get them therapy, eventually, they'll realize. I had experienced this for 5 years with a sibling of mine. A month ago it finally started coming together. Medication/Treatment and Family support i cant stress that enough. Seeing Pimpsy's story its in there too, support is so important. Just read some more of your posts Pimpsy, its so strange how similar our situations were. im just hoping it doesnt snap again. |

Suicidal thoughts are weird, it just kind of sends you into a downwards spiral. You don't really take your 'loved ones' into account (a lot of time they can be the ones causing it) just feel like you don't matter to anyone and that no one will really care if you're gone. So you think it's best to end the pain there and then. It's not worth killing yourself though, at that age especially, you haven't really experienced life as a whole and you can't make that sort of judgement on life if you've merely seen the tip of the iceberg. The only time i'll ever support suicide is for terminally ill people who would rather end their suffering. Even then, there's actual centres for that kind of suicide. Source: I am/was the 10% |

I don't know but wouldn't bad suffers of a terminal illness have the option to end their suffering? I know (sadly) Ace Ciprioni has a terminal illness. |

Initially, they seem very selfish because they don't realize that their behavior is really negatively effecting the family as a whole. But when the mentality changes from them being selfish to them being mentally ill, thats when you as a family start to realize. They are acting selfish, but its because they are sick. Goat because you have never experienced this before, i understand where you're coming from and why you can't understand what Pimpsy is saying. Just remember, you cant blame the family because honestly, they have no experience dealing with mental illness. It took 5 years for my family, and let me tell you, those 5 years were the most painful five years. Also, everyone will experience depression at some point in their lives. But there are many levels and figuring out which level it is accurately is not an easy task. |
