Currently, I know of the following global announcements that broadcast to the server:
- Breaking the seasonal sparring streak record (per device)
- Breaking the archery score
- Finding treasure hunt chests
- Top 10 placement in the Easter event
All are extremely infrequent. The spar streak is broken probably 3-5 times after the first week of a new season. The archery score is dead after the first hour. Events are rarely hosted. Easter is once per year.
I think it'd be pretty annoying to have stuff announcing all the time like on Era, but I feel like there's a few big achievements that could be announced to the server to make stuff a bit more exciting. Here are a few I can think of:
- Every 10k spar wins ("{Player} has just reached 30,000 spar wins!")
- Every 100k kills ("{Player} has just reached 200,000 kills!")
- Every 100k baddy kills ("{Player} has just reached 300,000 baddy kills!")
- Every 1k fort hours ("{Guild} has just reached 2000 fort hours!")
Someone actually told me that it used to announce when guilds reached 1000 hours before? I'm not sure, but I think that if the spar/PK/BK hats are off the table, this is a pretty cool way to honor the players who reach these milestones. I think these announcements would still happen infrequently enough to not create announcement spam (literally less than 1 per day, I imagine). I don't know how this would contribute to server lag.
On a similar note, I feel like the archery record needs to be changed so that it announces the new high score every time the maximum high score is tied. I believe people cheat to get the high score though (lagging their device like how people used to do at Crab Chance), so that would need to be fixed first.
It's not something I'd expect to take priority over more important updates, but I think it'd add a little bit of excitement to these accomplishments when they do occur.
