It's Probably My Autocorrect. Oh And Do You Really Think I Would Waste My Time Putting A Capital Letter All The Time? I Wouldn't It's Just The Autocorrect And I Don't Want To Waste My Time Checking The Capital Letter All The Time. And Anyway It's Not A Big Deal. Still It's Going To Be Fixed In The Week-End Or Later. Anything Interesting That Seems Like A Great Idea Worth The Headache Of Reading The Text, Capital Letter Or Not. |

This is so much better than the current leaderboard. I sparred today for the first time in ages and made it to 8k points which used to be impossible but then I see 18 ACCTS above me with 8k-8.8k and didn't see a single one of them spar all day. And I sparred close to 250 times today some in the morning, afternoon, and night. My efforts just felt wasted so I just logged off remembering why spar got boring in the first place.

ILY JARRETT that's a lot better than working with decimals for anyone not understanding what he means, he's saying that if you beat someone with a 1:5 ratio, you'll get 2 points instead of 0.2, and beating someone who is 10:1 will give you 100 instead of 10 so just moving the decimal place one spot over, yeah if you're just finding this thread, read this post for more information on how this is different from the current leaderboard |

Nice! ![]() Maybe you should swap out the word "rating" for "points" here (since it could get weird and confusing, with "showrating" being a command that actually shows your Classic-style spar rating). Second line could be changed to "Earn more points this season by sparring actively and winning against better players," or something to that effect. Or maybe that second line could be removed and there could be a sign put up in the Battle Arena that clearly explains how it works: ![]() Right there would be a good spot for it, if you chose to do that. The font size or right-side padding on the scores may need to be adjusted eventually, because points will go up into the 5-digit range as the season goes on. And lastly, I still think you should consider some type of reward for the #1 spot, either in real-time or at the end of the season. A real-time reward could be a statue for each #1 player (iDevice and PC) that updates dynamically and is shown in the Battle Arena (sort of how UN does). That, or maybe the #1 players could have some kind of cool particle effect around them in the Battle Arena when they are not in a spar. I'm not sure about an end-of-season reward. I'd suggest a hat, but that's not very original. I'm excited to see what the leaderboard will look like 24 hours from now. Everyone should give it a little time to set in, and thanks for giving it a chance. |

If the leaderboard is going to continue to reset on a seasonal period, after about a month it's going to have a minority lead of substantial quantities at the top. It'll be those players who encompass the factors of a decent active sparrer and the leaderboard will serve its purpose in that way. However, I don't know if this will make sparring more appealing or vibrant for everyone else. I really don't believe in the 'everyone's should be a winner' stuff, but the board is not going to seem accessible until it resets every 3 months. There's no opportunity to take the top people down without rising to them. The PK leaderboard also suffers from this but allows players to feel short term validation through its daily and weekly sections. Might be worth taking out the device-specific listings and doing that here. |

That's why I also suggested the spar hats stuff. I think that'd at least interest people to some extent. As the season goes on, people like Sarah (on the iDevice side) will be a 5-digit number ahead of the #2 score. I'm almost positive of that, because she wins a lot and is insanely active (6000 wins in the last month, I think). I want to be able to think that's a problem, but it isn't. Someone like that simply spars more and better than the majority of others, therefore I can't think of a reason why they don't deserve it. But ya, like you said, to someone who comes in two months after the season has started and sees players with 30k points, and they start at 0, I'm sure they see no interest in sparring for the leaderboard. But, I think that cons of the old leaderboard outweigh that:
I'd be 100% behind a weekly, monthly, and seasonal (or all-time?) points board. I'm just down for whatever gets more people sparring rather than obsessing over how many points they might lose. |
