here is what id have it be if i were to control a server, or design one. the perfect, not pay2win, fun, server.
races: each race has its own special powers and stats, now say each race gets 25 points and the points are spread out, such as dwarves being good at digging and using hammers and axes, and goblins being good at daggers and fists, as well as the starting player looking like their race, and having a bunch of heads for each race purchasable in a room in each races starting area. of course you can use customs so your player could look like anything despite the races.
weapons:I think a balanced stat weapon system would be nice.
Say each weapon gets 10 stat points. Now something like a dagger would have low damage like 2, good speed like 4 and good dex like 4
A two handed hammer would have high damage like 8, with 1 speed and 1 dex,
Something like a sword would have 3 damage, 4 speed, 3 dex.
If you wanted you could make the points like on a 25 scale to make it more precise and more combinations.
You could add a range weapon, with damage, speed, dex, where dex is how fast you reload,
You could have throwing weapons, medium damage, medium speed, medium dex,
Archery weapons, low damage, medium speed, high dex
High power Magic, really high damage, low speed, low dex
Low power magic, high damage, medium speed, low dex.
you get to choose your weapon, you can only have one main weapon and one range or shield at a time, maybe you could have a shield and range and no main. of course certain races will be better with certain weapons. perhaps you can choose a enchantment/element, and have the element systems come into effect.
repeatable quests and jobs/minigames: each would require going to places on the map for the highest profit, as well at multiple uses,
the mines can be for mining, for travel, for fighting monsters, and for finding gems and such.
the ponds and rivers and lakes and seas can have underwater areas (zorbi race areas), they can be fished in, different areas having different fish, you can find treasures and shells underwater, and can explore aquatic ruins and fight monsters there.
you see how it can go, so all these areas in the gmap have multiple uses and jobs, meaning that players will go and explore and be more spread out to get stuff and have fun, multiple purposes allowing for places to be used for many things.
deaths: like classic you just get back up, maybe some races would get back up a bit quicker based on the dex/agility stat, and reset your power, while kills fill up your power bar, instead of having a streak system.
guilds: can participate in guild wars and maybe a tower thing, not too sure if id allow towers, but i know for sure there will be no special rewards for that.
spars: of course different spars, no real spar ranks. its for fun and you can make money winning (only for money reward is when in the main spar, to prevent boosting for money).
now here is were Stefan makes his money: guild pack. one way to reduce the amount of guilds is to make it cost real money, but you can still join any or be given a guild for free. maybe then there would be less not serious guilds.
vanity items and furniture could cost gralats, they don't affect game-play, there could be a market with all the shops with the stuff, instead of having them all taking spots on shelves, have the items in a menu to go through, with how it would look on your character on the side.
choose your death gani for gralats, would have no effect on respawn speed.
your gender is set at the start of character creation, as well as your character name that is shown on the profile, your nickname can be changed anytime, but to change your character name or gender would cost a HUGE amount of gralats, making it so you'd practically have to buy a bunch of gralat packs to change it, i don't know about you guys, but i tend to stay male for my whole life, i don't change genders, also with set hard to change account names players can be identified and held accountable for their actions.
no level up system, you are all equal, its your talent and skill and experience and strategy that you depend on. the fighting is perfectly customizable, balanced, and free. anyone can get the same race and weapon as you, and if you want your weapon to look different you can make a custom of it and have it uploaded like a custom shield or sword.
now this is just a basic view of it, i have of course a lot more and specifics and such set up, but that's the gameplay, now for the staff system.
staff system: first of all id have dual managers. a public relations manager, and a gameplay/staff manager.
the public relations manager: would be like Novo of Delteria, cool, calm, nice, professional, handles all the problems and complaints, does the emails stuff like gralat pack errors and stuff, handling staff-player conflict, doing the announcements and basically making sure everyone is happy and following the rules.
the gameplay/staff manager: he would be like Xor or Rufus, hardworking, no nonsense, basically dev admin, he would deal with the server stuff, he would be the guy getting the team inspired and working hard, fixing and helping and dealing with that stuff and making the game.
LATs: id have sorta minor lats, basic lats/scripters, taught just little scripting things, they can go and fine polish stuff, fix errors, fix glitched areas, do stuff it doesn't require a great lat to do, set up little cool things, that stuff.
GP/FAQ: lots of gp/faq from different timezones, not allowed to have pms from friends only on except for in events. id have them check forums like these and mingle with players like a normal player. get feedback that way. maybe set up so when staff use staffboots or stealth they turn into a bird or dragon or insect or something like that, and have scripted natural fauna like that going around, so players don't know if its just a npc creature or a scripted dragon soaring over them, or if its a staff member in disguise.would really add something to the game, especially policing it, you don't know whats a staff and whats a npc, players end up being intimidated and don't want to do something bad.
punishments: all rules and their tiers of punishment are in the info center room of each starting area for each race. id like staff to go more for warning and talking to players and trying to change them instead of resorting to bans, Stefan should agree, you cant buy stuff if your banned!
so yea, that's my basic ideal server, if you have a server feel free to borrow anything from here, i encourage you.
rep, reply, like, share, whatever you want to do.
