ig it's to make it totally waterproof or something like that

Waterproofing? It will once again feature IP67 rated water resisitance, like the Galaxy S5. The S7 is rated IP68, which is not really monumental, but probably a small step above beyond the nano coating on both devices. The S8 is expected to feature the same resistance rating, announced in Spring.
(Apple has avoided the standard water resistance rating system until this model)
Buy a goddamn waterproof case, that's probably a lot cheaper than their demented Air Pods.

This is literally the game plan in the market. People don't
really care about its water resistance, it just looks great when they purchase it so they can advertise it as such. Realistically, they don't have to dump a lot of money into it because everyone is using a case anyway.
Apple's decision to remove the headphone jack probably is an act of "courage" to continue to lead the market to the "next generation" or "next standards" of technology. Bluetooth headphones/earbuds are nothing new, but I'm sure much like the previous iterations of Apple headphones, any other brand you go with will probably deliver the same experience, or offer a bit more.
I think Apple really "went through the motions" here, expecting existing customers to really stick to the brand no matter what. The downside is that I believe they will still succeed.
EDIT: Also, I don't mean to knock the OP from posting, just voicing my opinion.. All in all, the company still produces great phones and I'm sure this will be no exception. I just personally think it will leave a bit to be desired from me as a customer.
