Yea look, I actually found the BETA pretty fun and was looking forward to this game coming out but after all the lootbox **** has gone down, once again I will not be buying Battlefront.
The lootboxes themselves don't really effect me anyway, I don't really care that much about the Heroes, and the customisation options are pretty bad anyway. I'm a good player so the P2W star cards won't really limit me that much. That being said there is no way i'm going to support this trend as it's only going to get worse, even if my $100 doesn't seem like it'll make any difference.
Sounds pretty extreme but the level of success SWBF2 receives will determine how lootbox mechanics are implemented in games in the next 2 years, which would be a paid game using a F2P model.
Just sucks that these days any unlocks/ customisation is locked behind micro-transaction, just takes away so much fulfilment games used to give. If an item was hard to unlock, I'd be willing to grind for it knowing I will eventually get it, and feel some what accomplished when I finally do. With lootboxes the only outcome I get is feeling pissed off when I finally get the item I wanted, as it took me that long to get it knowing other people got it straight away just from being lucky/ spending money. I could buy one game and be satisfied with it for a year- now i'm bored of it after a few weeks because there is a paywall behind 3/4 of the content.
**** EA, and soz but DICE too. Battlefields probably my most played game series but I mean whilst the lootboxes weren't DICES idea, they could have at least added more customisation/ weapon unlocks to compensate that. 12 guns in the entire game? complete joke. Pretty sure BF4 had more than 12 guns just in the pistol category. BF4 is probably the only game that did lootboxes right.
Looks like i'm stuck playing COD which I don't really even like and only continue to play because I don't have anything else new to play
