Here's how you host a massive 1v1 1024 person spar tournament on iClassic in a reasonable amount of time, using only 8 people to host.
Preliminaries:
1) Have a DB NPC and sign up 1024 players. Once the 1024 players have signed up, allow people to sign up to continue sign up to be potential replacements.
2) You have 8 QuickTourney like levels. If you've never played UN, QuickTourney is essentially a fully automated 16 person spar tourney. It looks like this.

Have one staff member watching each arena.
3) The DB NPC adds 16 players into each level and starts the game. The admin watches and has some basic commands like /pause box # (disable player weapons in that box) or /restart box # to deal with any situations that come up. They also kick anyone who is too laggy, cheats, refuses to fight, etc. After the QuickTourney round is concluded and a winner has been determined, the DB NPC is notified and it adds that players to a list of winners, then clears the level of anyone except for the supervising admin and adds a new batch of players and begins another round.
The replacements are added in when a player who was supposed to be added wasn't online. As a bonus, the whole thing is seeded. Before everything starts, the system determines the top 64 registered sparrers using the high score list and only adds one of them into each batch of players.
Main Event:
4) After this concludes, you have a list of 64 players. The DB NPC sends this array directly to whatever controls the bracket system on the server and you start up a 64 person tourney. With 8 people hosting, that should go pretty quickly. Would do best 2/3 for every round until final 8. Best 3/5 for final 8.
5) Assuming this tourney was iPhone only, the next day do a mixed tourney with a cap of 512 players only for people who didn't participate in the iPhone only tourney. The 32 person tourney that you're left with should go even faster. Also since you’ve split the tourneys into two days, there should be less lag.
6) Have the winners of each tournament spar in a best out of 9 series to determine the lord of all sparring on iClassic. To make it fair, the facebook winner has to win 6 times in order to be declared the winner (so the iPhone sparrer would only need to win 4 of the nine spars to win.)
GREAT SUCCESS
