Keyboard/switch preference

What do you guys use? I didn't buy into how big of a deal this was until I bought a "mechanical feel" budget keyboard and it felt like Play-Doh under my fingers… My BlackWidow 2014 is starting to double-tap on single presses, so I'm replacing it. Razer uses their own custom switches, but I've been told the ones on the BW are most similar to Cherry MX Blues.

I really like compact keyboards, but can't use tenkeyless ones because I use the numpad so much. The CM Storm QuickFire TK was on Amazon for ~$50 through a Lightning Deal today, so I picked it up.

It's got a similar compact design, except moved the row of keys between the main 84 and numpad onto the numpad itself. I've never used Reds, but people tell me they are the best for gaming because of the linear press and actuation point. I do a lot of web development and content writing for work, so that could be a big adjustment for typing. It may just be a preference thing though.

Difference between switches if you're noob:

I don't really PC game, I mostly use my keyboard for other functions. In 2015 I purchased a Mac for my studies. The default Mac Keyboard(wireless) didn't really suit me, it's lack of quality number pad(it has an attachable one, but it often runs out of battery or just flat out disconnects which drove me insane) really hurt it. I couldn't really handle that going into my semester. I ended up purchasing the wired Mac keyboard as a quick fix solution that wouldn't take me long to set up. It's a lot nicer. I plan on getting a mechanical keyboard in the future when I build my own PC.

From what I've looked at I would probably go with the Cherry MX brown or Cherry MX blue. Keyboard would depend on how much I want to spend and what brand I would want.

As someone who switched from a mechanical keyboard to a membrane, I didn't really have many hiccups, but that could also be some personal bias because the mechanical keyboard was for an old Dell 7~ years old, and the keys began to get stuck or not react to my press.

TLDR: I'm no expert, but I doubt you'll feel a massive difference(or need for adjustment) between the Blues and Reds.

Nearly the same keyboard as I just got except it's full-sized and has some USB polling rate switches, mine was also around 60% off today on Amazon at about $52

i honestly hate the keyboard...not because of the actual function but the keys...

i bought this thing a few years ago but its my first swedish keyboard. the ****ing numbers are on TOP while the shift buttons are shown on the bottom (not shown in the pic i found on google below). this is EXTREMELY CONFUSING if you don't know the layout. some of them arent obvious at all either. wtf is that mess next to backspace? wanna guess how you do the question mark based on the key design?

My current keyboard is pretty old and I might be getting another soon. To those of you who use browns, do you like them? Currently debating between browns or blacks but I'm currently on the side of brown.

blues n browns are prob the favorites. blues are clicky while browns dont have a click

I've been using that CM Storm keyboard for 3 days now and still don't like it, it's definitely the Red switches but it's also because the Shift key feels very flimsy? There's really no physical or audible tell to when it's being held down and that annoys me. I'll probably stick with Blues.

I've had my CM Storm Quickfire XT for 3 years now, red switches. Since I've gotten so used to the reds so quickly and have used them for so long, I really can't complain about them at all. I've used blues before, but I was still much more used to reds already. Haven't touched any other switch color.

I like to think I type fairly quickly (slowly in the world of fast-typers, I don't check my speed or anything, and I am inaccurate) and the reds give me the light, quick-fingered satisfaction I look for when I type. I also use the O-rings because I have a habit of lightly bottoming out when I get in a groove. That may be part of the reason why I enjoy reds, but who really knows. I like them.

Saw this today: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/npkc-17-switch-tester
Massdrop is amazing for any keyboard enthusiasts BTW

I bottom out on browns all the time, but I can see red and blue users getting used to the click activation point thus not bottoming out
